This long time Texas Woodie Wagon remained with the same owner for 30+years.
The 1946 Ford models were basically carry-overs from the 1942 line, with minor styling revisions, notably the front grille assemby. They utilized the same drivetrain as the pre-war models. The bodies were virtually identical.
Ash, Mahogany, and hardened Maple were commonly utilized in the construction of the Ford Woody wagons. This example showcases much of the original wood, including the roof bows.
Under the hood is the detailed Flathead V8. This example sports the strong running 239 c.i. Flathead V8 engine @ 100 horsepower and mated to the 3-speed manual transmission with Columbia Overdrive Rear End, neither of which are original to the vehicle.
Ford's top offering for 1946 was the Super Deluxe line. You could purchase a Super Deluxe in Sedan, Coupe, Convertible, or Station Wagon form with either a 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder engine. Things that set the Super Deluxe apart were special exterior trim, multiple armrests, dual sun visors, and a special horn ring instead of the standard "Deluxe" button.
The interior features beautiful original bright work throughout along with vintage wood work. Finished in soft brown hues with red pinstripe highlights, this timeless 65 year old dash shows beautifully.
The factory gauges are highlighted with backlighting and functional amp, oil pressure, and temperature gauges. The wiring is in good condition throughout and the 6-volt charging system works as it should.

The two tone light and dark tan leatherette upholstery shows well throughout.
Underneath the center seat is a stow area that stores the factory jacking equipment and factory tool kit.
There are three rows of seating.

The distinctive polished side molding is an easy way to distinguish the Super Deluxe from a standard Ford. This Ford's beautiful stance is thanks to the restored painted steel wheels, finished in red and dressed with polished Super Deluxe wheel covers and beauty rings on Wide Whites sized at 6.00-16s.
The rear deck opens and closes correctly.
The vintage hardware is in place throughout.
The door panel inserts are marine grade plywood.

This is a beautiful Bob Drakes Reproduction Grille.
The fog lights, headlights, tail lights, marker lights, and reverse light glow.

Further inspection of the engine compartment will reveal a clean and detailed engine and firewall. Hood stiffeners have been installed for smooth operation up and down.
This flathead V8 runs smooth, its work made easier thanks to the Columbia Overdrive rear end.
The oil filter and breather are correct.
The fuel sight glass is in place.
The radiator is an NOS unit.
Ford Super Deluxe hubcaps reside on painted steel wheels.
Underneath this Super Deluxe, you'll find exceptionally solid flooring and framework throughout.
The Columbia Overdrive rear end engages as it should.
The stock suspension components are in good condition, clean and detailed.
