The 1955 Buick Century was a personal design
favorite of Harley Earl himself. Mid 50's GM
styling is often considered to the pinnacle
of American car styling. Built on the
smallest Buick platform of the year, the
Century also boasted the most powerful
engine, the 322 cubic inch Nailhead V8 rated
at 236 horsepower. This is a turn-key
example finished in its correct Cascade Blue
& Dover White colors. It has been updated
with modern air conditioning and is
factory-optioned with power steering & power
brakes.
This older, presentable finish has a number
of imperfections, such as these large chips
on the driver's side door along with some
chips along the front edges where the hood
meets the fenders along both sides. The
paint shows fair and is in decent shape over
an exceptionally solid body.
From the 1930's until 2005, Buick's Century
nameplate was utilized. This example
displays original intact stainless and trim
throughout along with nice chrome displayed
on the front and rear bumpers.
Decorative trim is abundant on the '55
Century, including trim around the gas fill
door.
The glass is in good condition throughout.
We would like to thank our friends at the
Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight
Museum, located only minutes from our
showroom floor. We love to bring our cars
there for many photos.
The front and rear bumper chrome has been
re-chromed along with the tail light bezels.
This car displays original stainless
throughout as well. The 1955 Buick Century
models were laden with chrome.
The trunk is clean and detailed, complete
with the spare tire/wheel and trunk
paneling.
Custom blue & white vinyl door panels are
accompanied by the factory bright work and
armrest.
The interior features exceptionally nice
upholstery, styled in blue checkered cloth
inserts with silver thread along with blue
and white vinyl.
Under the hood is the classic Buick Nailhead
V8 engine equipped with updated air
conditioning along with factory power
steering. This powerplant is backed by
Buick's DynaFlow automatic transmission.
Further inspection will reveal solid inner
fenderwells, firewall, and core support
sheet metal.
The underhood insulation is intact and in
good condition throughout.
The original underhood identification tag is
in place, confirming this to be a Dover
White/Cascade Blue "66R" Century.
The original V.I.N. plate is in place as
well.
The top is the correct Dover white color.
The upholstery shows exceptionally well.
Factory Power Brakes are clearly labeled on
the pedal.
The original bright work is intact
throughout, including the Sono-Matic AM
radio.
The headliner shows well.
The 70,013 miles are believed to be original
to this Buick.
The air conditioning system features an
under-dash unit and updated compressor under
the hood.
The vintage controls and equipment are in
place throughout.
This is Buick's DynaFlow automatic
transmission.
The undercarriage and flooring appears to be
in exceptional condition throughout,
indicative of a dry climate example.
