Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to present this beautiful classic 1955 Pontiac Laurentian Convertible. A very rare Canadian produced example, this convertible is in exceptional condition. This is a long-time one-family owned vehicle. A host of mechanical work has recently been performed here at Texas Classic Cars of Dallas (November 2014)including the gas tank removed and refinished, the carburetor rebuilt, the braking system gone through and rebuilt along with a tune-up. We have receipts totaling approximately $2,000. This Pontiac is motivated by its factory Pontiac 261 cubic inch inline-6 cylinder engine & powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission. With a correct Matador red & white  exterior paired with red & white vinyl interior, this is a true crowd pleasure. We do not know how many of these Canadian produced examples remain, but it is very few. We do know that only 656 Canadian produced 1955 convertible Laurentians were built.

The above information for this '55 Pontiac is from General Motors Canada. Fortunately, GM Canada kept records. This accurate information was provided by Vintage Vehicle Services in Oshawa Ontario, Canada. The Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum is the location for many of our photos. The museum is located only a few miles from our showroom. Be sure to visit the historic museum if you find yourself in Dallas, Texas. This Pontiac is a car that can be driven & shown. This car has won several awards over the years. The following photos show the car in the early-mid 1980s during restoration work.

Although the Laurentian appears very similar in terms of styling, trim, and other features to the United States' produced Pontiacs, they actually had more in common with the full sized Chevrolet models. The Laurentian was available in all of the body styles Chevrolet's Bel Air was including hardtop coupe, sedan, and convertible models. The '55 Laurentian & '55 Bel Air actually shared the same structural framework. This is why the Laurentian is much shorter than it's U.S. counterpart, the Pontiac Star Chief. The exterior showcases a repaint of the correct Matador Red & White finish. The paint and body are in very good condition throughout with some minor imperfections.

The distinctive Pontiac brightwork is in great shape and intact front to back. The wheels of choice are the factory steel wheels, finished in Matador red & fitted with B.F. Goodrich Silvertown Wide Whitewall Poly Bia 4-Ply Tires all around (7.10-15s). This interior shows very well. The upholstery is finished in red & white vinyl. The dash is finished in Matador red while the factory gauges and original AM pushbutton radio are intact and in great shape. The steering wheel features the rim blow horn while the steering column is paired with the column shifter to select gears in the Powerglide automatic transmission. The upholstery shows well front to back as does the carpeting and interior panels. The engine compartment displays the Pontiac 261 cubic inch inline-6, this particular engine runs out well. The engine bay displays original sheetmetal throughout the firewall, inner fenders and core support. The generator charging system is intact along with the oil bath air cleaner assembly. The exhaust system breathes through the stock manifold out to the rear bumper, complete with a decorative exhaust deflector. The engine cylinder head casting is 3836848 while the engine block casting number is 3837004.

The original Canadian production plate is in place. The vintage radiator is in great shape, protected with a bug screen. The undercarriage displays an exceptional frame and flooring throughout. This is a good solid underbody as depicted in the photographs. The door undersides look great. The white convertible top is power-operated, functional, and in very good condition. The trunk displays a spare tire/wheel & jacking equipment. The rubber mat is clean and detailed. We also have an included car cover.
