This Chevy showcases an old
lacquer paint job in its correct color scheme of India Ivory
over Twilight Turquoise. This Chevy is enjoyable as it is, but
the exterior paint is no doubt a "20-footer" There is checking
throughout the paint along with scuffs, chips, scratches and
original sheet metal throughout. You'll find a ding on the
driver’s side quarter panel towards the top edge (photoed) along
with 3 isolated dings on the roof (photoed). Being a dry climate
example, this car does not suffer from the typical bubble rust
associated with the Tri-Five Chevrolets. This is an excellent
cosmetic restoration candidate with an all original body and
flooring throughout. New paint alone would bring this '56 to an
entirely new level. The stainless and chrome
work is actually in exceptional condition. All of the glass is
intact and window mechanisms are working properly. Tri-Five
lovers will immediately recognize the distinguishing features of
the 1956 Chevy in the following photos. The interior features its
correct color-keyed interior that shows well. This factory
interior is in very good condition, restored to original in
1986. We have receipts for this work performed and much of the
work done by the current 2nd owners. The dash displays quality
brightwork and correct paint in Twilight Turquoise. An
aftermarket Chevrolet cassette stereo is mounted in the factory
location. The factory VIN tag is in place as well. This is your opportunity to
purchase a unique '56 Chevrolet BelAir that has not been
tampered with or altered. We enjoy driving it as it is. This is
one that you can drive and enjoy now & bring to the next level
when you choose to do so. * Here are some interesting
facts about the 1956 Chevrolet model line-up. * GM spent 40 million
redesigning the 1956 Chevrolets, with 1 million spent on
restyling the front grille and fenders alone. * The width, height, and
wheelbase remained the same on the 1956 Chevrolet, however 2 to
3 inches in overall length was added * The extent of the styling
and engineering changes for 1956 was extensive, far more than
just a facelift * Longer coil springs
appeared up front for a smoother ride and caster angle was
increased one degree for easier steering * The rear leaf springs were
mounted 2 inches further outboard for better cornering stability
and 6 leaf springs were offered as an option on all models. Amazingly, the 1956 model
year is so often overlooked in favor of the 1955 & 1957 models,
but it shouldn't be, don't you agree? This stately Chevy rides on
its original wheels wrapped in 6.70-15 Sears Allstate wide
whitewall radial tires. The factory hubcaps set it off
perfectly. This is just a great old
cruiser! Under the hood, the 265
cubic inch V8's induction is courtesy of the 2bbl. carburetor.
The engine pad stamping is 0243587F56C & the engine casting
number is 3720991, confirming this to be the right engine for
this Chevy. The factory breather is intact. You'll notice that
the firewall paint and interior option tag is still in place,
confirming the factory color combination of India Ivory &
Twilight Turquoise (710D), as well as matching Turquoise
interior trim (577). The firewall, inner fenders, and core
support are factory thick and Texas solid! Underneath this BelAir, it
is undetailed and exceptionally solid. Much of the red oxide
coating is still intact. You'll find factory bracing along with
the factory flooring and trunk pan. The rockers and door
undersides are solid. What a great car to detail out and build
this is! Look closely at the following photos. The trunk displays the
correct mat and spare wheel/tire along with jacking equipment.
