It is well-known that a fire destroyed 9 of the original 25 XK SS Jaguars at the Browns Lane factory along with the tooling to create these breathtaking cars. The majority of the surviving cars remained in the United States.

The most well-known owner of one of the original '57 Jaguar XK-SS was one Steve McQueen, the American Actor and Racer famous for his documentary on the 24hrs. Of LeMans race and many other great achievements in cinema and Motor Sports.

Basically, the famous D-Type Racer in Street Form, the XKSS featured weather protection along with a passenger door. The rudimentary canvas top on this car is correct for the XKSS, along with these Hand Fabricated Side Windows, Window Frames, and the Beautiful Hand Fabricated Aluminum Windshield Frame.

True to its European ancestry, this Racer is Right Hand Drive.

Chrome bumpers were added to the XKSS that later became used in the E-type Jaguars (XKE series).

Only minor alterations from the original D-type Jaguars were made to the XK SS. The prominent rear fin was removed. A divider between the drivers & passengers compartment was removed as well.

This stunning car was built after much time and research.

You'll love the sound of the 4.2 Liter Double Overhead Cam XK engine in operation. This powerful race-bred engine is combined with a modern 5-Speed Synchromesh Transmission for an enjoyable ride on today's streets.

Texas Restomods was commissioned to being the arduous 4-year process of building this car. The goal was to create an XKSS from the ground up. This was succeeded. Whoever ends up owning this vehicle, will be taking possession of a car that was built to the highest standards and created with passion and a commitment to excellence. The entire process was documented in photographs from start to finish. This car was completed in January, 2005.

The body is high quality fiberglass, molded from an original XKSS.

The chassis itself was shipped here from England. It is a very rigid, race inspired tubular steel design by Reynard Chassis in England.

The Suspension itself is pure Jaguar, featuring an independent rear end along with 1970's Jaguar front suspension. Adjustable Coil-Over Shocks dampen the ride with authority.

4-Wheel Disc Brakes provide more than adequate stopping force. The 11-inch Brake rotors are brought to a halt by 4-Piston front Calipers & 2-Piston Rear Calipers.

The 15-inch Wheels provide an excellent stance of authority & grace. The radial tires are 205/70 series.

Underneath the bonnet, is this highly detailed masterpiece. With a turn of the key, it fires to life with authority, aided by a Modern High Torque Gear Reduction starter.

The induction is courtesy of beautifully detailed triple Weber 45mm DCOE carburetors, each correctly tuned. The race inspired Redline Intake system breathes to the free-flowing side exhaust system. The header is beautifully detailed. Combined with the Double Overhead Cam engine, this exhaust sounds magnificent. The engine compartment features polished components throughout along with fine detail and workmanship.

I would like to mention that the electrical system features a modern, new harness with none of the problems associated with original Jaguar "Lucas" electronics.

The driver's cockpit is ready. Strapped down and in full race dress, you've been in the drivers seat for 12 grueling hours now. You're drenched in sweat. You listen to the revs climb as you make your way through the straight away at the fabled 24 hours of Lemans Race. You grab 4th gear at just over7,000 rpm. The smell of well used brakes & the hard working engine sting your nose. For a moment, you are Sir William Lyons, white knuckled at the wheel of your Jaguar, your heart thumping over 100 beats per minute, the speedometer well over 100 mph.. Then again, you decide to go for a burger and an ice cream shake, then off to the Saturday morning car show instead. This car is the best of both worlds.

The engine vitals and inertia are measured by Smiths gauges. The 180 mph speedometer is accompanied by an 8,000 rpm tachometer.

The seating is clean and detailed throughout; you're secured with these racing style seat belts. The carpeting is plush and the attention to interior detail is prevalent as well.

The body displays a beautiful Jaguar Racing Green finish throughout.

Again, this is your opportunity to own a very special car, a tribute created to pay homage to the legendary Jaguar XK-SS.
