Built by the Chevrolet division of General Motors
and introduced for the 1958 model year, the NEW '58
Impala was quoted as "Longer and Lower, Wider and
Strong" in Chevrolet literature.
The Impala nameplate was first unveiled in 1958 as
an upscale trim option on the popular Chevrolet
BelAir series. Chevorlet's most expensive offering,
the upscale Impala didn't feature BelAir badging
anywhere. Certainly aided by the extensive redesign
for Chevrolet's '58 model line-up, The Impala did so
well that GM brass gave the green light for the
Impala marque to become its own model for the
following year.
The Impala nameplate is unmistakable! These crossed
flags and Impala marque were first unveiled in 1958.
Over the last 2 years, this car has received a great
deal of restoration work, including an attractive
interior restoration in the correct red vinyl with
silver-laden multi-colored inserts. The finish was
also restored and in exceptional condition, with
some minor imperfection to note (chip-touch up,
etc). Altogether, this is a very attractive Impala
ready to own, show, and enjoy!
This classic Impala displays all original, intact
bright work throughout with minor imperfections on
closer observation. The front and rear bumpers have
also been re-chromed.
Wide White 8.50/14 BF Goodrich Silvertown Tires
reside all around this Chevy, complete with classic
spinner hubcaps.
This classic grille and chromed front end is
distinctive to the '58 Chevrolets. These quad
headlights are also accented with chromed headlight
brows.
The bumpers have been re-chromed and show
exceptionally well.
The windshield and glass is in good condition
throughout.
The original V.I.N plate is in place.
The door panels are in good condition, and the door
undersides are solid.
Open the doors to 1958, this interior is in
exceptional condition.
The seatcovers have been replaced front to back with
the correct red & multi-colored vinyl pattern.
This is the correct steering wheel with the horn
rim.
The impala marque made its debut in 1958, a
prominent badge above the rear seats.
The headliner has been replaced and is excellent
condition.
The dash displays original instrumentation and
brightwork along with an upgraded AM./FM digital
cassette stereo mounted in the factory location.
We just installed a new glove box liner as well,
prior to these photographs being taken.
The trunk is clean and detailed, complete with the
correct rubber mat, spare tire/wheel and jacking
equipment.
The trunk lid underside is clean and detailed.
Dual chrome exhaust tips exit out the rear and the
exhaust tone sounds excellent.
The distinctive roofline and bubbletop designed rear
window are timeless.
The engine compartment looks good. The firewall and
inner fenders were painted and the core support is
solid.
Although the original blue colors have been changed
in favor of classic white & red interior, the trim
tag is still in place.
Three different 348 engines were available in 1958.
Originally a 4bbl. equipped car (stamping T1223G),
this car now boasts three 2-bbl. Rochester
carburetors.
Making their debut in 1958, the triple taillights
would soon become an impala trademark for decades to
come. These were easily discerned from the lesser
model BelAir's dual tail light configuration.
The undercarriage appears to be clean and detailed
throughout, indicative of a dry climate example.
This is your opportunity to own a unique 1958
Chevrolet Impala powered by the legendary 348
engine.
