Midway through the model
year (59), a new Galaxie series became the Top-Line Ford. This
Galaxie-Skyliner was the centerpiece among these loaded luxury
cruisers and Ford's most expensive car, apart from Thunderbirds. Some 6 months work and
approximately 1 million was spent in preperation of the 1960-61
retractable models, but they would never be. 1959 would be the
final, and least produced year of the Skyliner retractable
hardtop convertibles with 12,915 built. This beautiful example
showcases a beautiful Colonial White over Indian Turquoise
finish. This is an older finish that has been professionally
polished and in good condition, although not perfect or in show
condition by any means. The grille is clean and
detailed. This quad headlight design was introduced in 1958. Underneath the hood is the
FE series V8. Originally powered by the 332 cid V8, this car
sports a later '61-'62 FE series V8 (352-390cid) The intake's
casting number is C1AE9425B & the block casting is C1AE60156.
This example has been outfitted with a 4bbl. carburetor. The
original 2bbl. carburetor helped produced approximately 225
horsepower on the lesser 332 cube motor. This V8 also features
recent belt replacement along with new radiator hoses and
clamps. The interior features 2-tone
turquoise vinyl, white and peppered cloth interior encased in
plastic protection. The dash showcases all
original gauges along with the pushbutton AM radio, still
working! The door panels are original
and intact, displaying the intricate bright trim. This is simply an original
factory interior ready to enjoy. Underneath the retractable
top's lid, you'll find solid flooring and a mat. The retractable
hardtop was recently serviced as well. Underneath this car is the
rear end with factory 3.10 gearing along with the undetailed &
solid flooring. SUMMARY OF FEATURES FE Series Ford V8 4bbl.
