Chevy Corvette
There were only 10,594 Corvette Coupes produced in 1963.
The 1963 Corvette rode on a 98-inch wheelbase.
This divided rear glass Corvette Coupe was known as the "Split Window." This unique design was a one-year only Corvette feature.
The original trim around the rear windows is nearly impossible to find and not reproduced. This car still has all of its original window trim as well as the bumpers, tail light bezels, and body plates.
This Corvette is a rare code 900A Tuxedo black car with black standard interior.
The body is straight and solid throughout, with all of it's original bonding strips and fender lips intact. It will need to be thoroughly prepared & sanded and or media blasted prior to paint. The doors open and close correctly. The body is actually in exceptional condition on this dry climate Corvette.
Note the fit of the doors, original sills, and these unique vents on the '63 Vette.
The Soft-Ray tinted glass is intact throughout with exception of a recently replaced windshield.
Interestingly enough the rear design of the C2 Corvette Stingray was applied to the last 1st generation 1962 Corvette as a sort of sneak preview of the Stingray.
This Corvette rides on 14-inch Wheels with these beauty caps. These steel wheels originally feature the "snowflake" designed '63 only wheel covers, readily available on Ebay and elsewhere.
The door undersides are solid on this dry climate car.
The factory interior is intact and in good condition, with exception of the front carpeting, it is pretty worn and in need of replacement. Notice the excellent headliner shown above.
The interior trim, vinyl and upholstery is intact throughout.
The standard black vinyl seating is in good condition, showing some typical age wear.
The simulated wood grain wheel shows well and is paired with the only gauge cluster and instruments as well as the factory AM/FM Delco radio. The center console is all there and in good condition as are the original door panels. The Muncie 4-speed has been topped with a Hurst shifter in the past and still utilizes it today.
These miles are certainly believed to be original to this Corvette.
The glovebox door and liner are original pieces.
Under the hood is displayed the original, matching #s 300 horsepower 327 V8 with 4bbl. carburetor. This engine was recently removed, disassembled, detailed, and rebuilt with receipts. The engine compartment has been detailed as well. New belts, hoses, etc. were installed along with the correct ignition shielding and a new factory reproduction breather.
This is the original block and cylinder heads. The block casting number and engine pad suffix are depicted above.
Note the correct ram horn manifolds are in place. The gaskets were replaced during the engine installation.
The alternator has been replaced and the Harrison overflow tank is still in place.
The undercarriage is in exceptional condition.
This 300 horsepower 327 V8 is backed by the Muncie 4-speed manual transmisson.
The spare tire carrier assembly is missing and the dual exhaust system has been cleaned and detailed.
The flooring and frame is in excellent condition. This will make a fine collector quality Corvette with cosmetic work.
Chevrolet's 1963 Corvette was a radical re-design from previous Corvettes. In addtion to the jaw-dropping, crowd pleasing asthetics, the suspension and geometry of the car yielding un-matched performance and handling for years to come. Independent front and rear suspension provided exceptional traction and handling along with upper and lower a-arms and coil springs. 1963 Corvettes utilized 4-wheel drum brakes.
