1968 Ford Mustang STRYKER
" by Sanderson's Customs and Conversions "

This 1968 Ford Mustang Sanderson STRYKER has been built with pride as a tribute to the United States of America and our brave men and women of the armed services. This one of kind custom Mustang began life as a '68 Fastback. It has been rotisserie restored with top quality fabrication and design by Steve Sanderson and his top-notch crew at Sanderson's Customs & Conversions in Pilot Point, Texas.

The billet aluminum grille is badged with Sanderson's signature Texas Rattlesnake. The design of the Sanderson Strykers were inspired by Steve Sanderson's relationship with Carroll Shelby and Mr. Shelby's 1967 GT500's. The Stryker name comes from the Stryker Light Armored Vehicles and the Stryker Brigade which are currently engaged in the fight in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The theme of this '68 Mustang Stryker is an Antique American Flag. The car is driven through an Antique American Flag. The flag was sucked into the Ram Air Hood. Part of the flag blows out of the Ram Air Hood and whips over the car, acting as the white racing stripes tethering to the end of the rear ducktail. Other parts of the flag blow out of both custom fender vents, flying and tethering down both sides of the doors. This ulimate Patriotic air-brushed color scheme was crafted by Mike Dusold. The Stryker Red PPG paint is courtesy of Fady Khoury & Sandersons C.C.

The engine compartment was specially prepared for our all-aluminum 427 c.i. smallblock.

The powerplant is a new Dart all aluminum small block V8 displacing 427 cubic inches. This unbelievable mill is rated at 625 horsepower. The engine modifications were performed by Keith Craft Racing engines. Some of these modifications include: a race prepared 351 Cleveland small block bored and stroked to 427 cubes along with race prepared aluminum heads. This is a blue-printed and balanced assembly, utilizing Eagle 6.250 Rods, Eagle 4.0 Crank, Mahl 4.125 Pistons, Mass Flow Fuel Injection System, JBA Headers to a custom dual exhaust system, and much more. The transmission is a super stout Richmond 5 speed Super Street Transmission with a Richmond shifter.

Sanderson's signature performance features are showcased throughout this show quality engine compartment. The Concept ONE serpentine belt system consists of polished billet pullies and bracketry. The air conditioning lines have been custom routed through the passenger side shock tower for streamlined function.

The hood scoop has been specially modified. The antique American flag is being drawn into the opening.

The upper and lower scoops, hood, front nose, trunk lid, and quarter extensions are from Tony Branda and are Shelby concourse parts.

The Ram Air portion of the hood was cut and raised 1 1/2" making for a more aggressive opening, likely contributing to Old Glory being drawn into the scoop openings. The flags tattered ends peek just underneath the hood as well.

The Sanderson Custom Fender Vents are made of metal and are one of a kind, designed by David Holloway- Sanderson's production manager.

This all-steel body was masterfully prepared on a rotisserie. Every nut & bolt has been replaced.

This is Sanderson's signature billet aluminum grille.

The stock taillights were modified to a stair-stepped configuration and operate sequentially. Mr. Sanderson designed the stair step fiberglass extension to the taillight panel, giving it a very unique three dimensional look.

The upper scoop was modified with a larger opening. The lower scoop was cut into 4 pieces and modified to flow with the quarters and door openings. The drip rails and door handles have been shaved. A keyless entry system makes for an easy entrance and exit.
