aircraft styled horseshoe shifter. The dash displays
the classic SS round gauge cluster including a clock. Many of our photos
were taken at the historic Dallas Love Field Frontiers
of Flight Museum, located only minutes from our
showroom. This muscular stance
is courtesy of 17-Inch American Racing Special Edition
wheels wrapped in 255/55R17 high performance radials all
around. This Chevelle flexes
its big block muscles under the hood with this
non-matching 454 c.i engine. This powerplant features
excellent street performance partially thanks to an
Edelbrock 4bbl. carburetor along with a free-flowing
exhaust system consisting of Hooker headers and
Flowmaster mufflers. The engine is paired with the 700R4
overdrive transmission for excellent throttle response
and highway cruising. Chevrolet rated the LS-5 at 365
horsepower & 465 ft-lbs of torque for 1971. The
following year (72) horsepower ratings would diminish
drastically with a net rating of only 270HP. This
example runs very strong, with excellent torque. Be sure
to play our video of this Chevelle in action. Further inspection
of the engine compartment will confirm clean and
detailed sheetmetal throughout the firewall, inner
fenders, and core support. The ignition system has been
upgraded with a high energy distributor. An Edelbrock
4bbl. carburetor feeds full through this healthy engine.
Exhaust gases are expelled in a hurry through Hooker
headers to a custom dual exhaust system with Flowmaster
muffler and correct factory styled chromed tips. Single headlights
styled similar to the Monte Carlo were brought to
Chevrolet's Chevelle for 1971. The 1971 Chevelle would
be one of the last true muscle cars in an upcoming era
of dwindling performance numbers due to government and
safety regulations. The undercarriage
displays the classic Super Sport features such as the
boxed control arms & F-41 suspension with heavy duty
front & rear sway bars. This Chevelle also features
power front disc brakes and power steering. The frame,
flooring, and trunk pan are solid throughout this dry
climate example. The door panels show
well and the door undersides are solid.
