1990 would be the last year
for this famed Esprit Turbo SE. The SE version
of the Turbo Esprit was introduced in May of
1989 with many changes to the standard Turbo
model including the following :
“1990
Lotus Esprit SE”

* Air/water charge air cooled turbo engine with
Lotus/Delco fuel injection
* Increased Horsepower from 228hp to 280bhp.
* Boost increased to 12.4psi
* 16" rear wheels and Goodyear Eagle tires
(Front 215/50ZR15 on 7inch wheels. Rear
245/50ZR16 on 8.5inch wheels - Dunlop HP tires
on this example.)
* Revised suspension geometry
* Restyled front spoiler (more "square-ish" and
has 5 openings; the outermost openings are for
the twin oil coolers, which non-SE's do not
have. Also an air duct on each side of the air
dam, ahead of the front wheels for oil cooler
exhausts.)
* Restyled side sill ducts (parallel to body,
not scalloped or "pinched-in" at mid-door)
* Strut mounted rear spoiler. (Most non-SE's do
not have rear wings.)
* All leather interior. Replaced "overlapping
leather strip" look with more refined stitching
on center console, seats and doors.

The 1990 Lotus Esprit SE rides on a 96-inch
wheelbase with special light weight OZ Route
wheels wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport 4000 A/S
Radials sized at 215/50R15s in front and
245/50ZR16s in the rear.
This special aluminum alloy Lotus engine is
rated at 264 horsepower @ 6500rpm and 261 lb-ft
of torque @ 3900 rpm. The engine compartment is
clean, detailed, and original throughout, as you
can see.
The luxurious non-smoker interior is original
and well maintained. Finished in Magnolia
colored leather, it is spartan, yet functional.
The instruments are wrapped in a burl walnut
bezel. The woodgrain is in exceptional
condition. The sound system consists of a Sony
cassette stereo head unit.
The special factory exhaust system is stainless
steel. Stopping power comes courtesy of 4-wheel
disc brakes. The front suspension consists of
upper and lower wishbones with an anti-roll bar.
Coil springs are paired with telescopic
gas-pressurized shocks. The rear suspension
consists of upper and lower transverse links
with box section trailing radius arms along with
coil springs and pressurized shocks. These cars
were built to handle and this one is not an
exception. The SE version boasts considerable
unpgrades throughout the cosmetics and
mechanicals.
The door panels and door undersides are
excellent and original. This is a non-smoker
example as well.
The flip-up targa top is removable.
The front storage compartment is very clean and
original. The spare tire/wheel is in place.
