Porsche 928 GTS

This beautiful Porsche recently passed (July/2010) stringent Texas emissions tests.
The current owner (since '99) has kept this Porsche in impeccable mechanical condition. We have receipts for all work performed on this car since 1999. Over $17,000 was spent to keep this Porsche in top operating condition in the past 5 years alone. The entire air conditioning system was replaced in 2008 at a cost of $6,200. We have a large notebook full of receipts in chronological order. Various items replaced & service performed since 2001 include replacement of the Torque Tube, the Oil Pump, Engine Gaskets, Axles, Brake System, Air Conditioning System restoration, Struts and much more. German Precision Sales and Service in Dallas, Texas was responsible for much of the work to keep this Porsche in top operating condition. This is truly a turn-key and enjoy Porsche 928 GTS.
The GTS was first introduced to North American in January, 1992 as early 1993 models. Many still consider the 928 GTS to be the best Grand Touring car ever made. Enjoy the 3 short film clips just below.
The GTS showcased modest updates that include a newly contoured rear spoiler design available in either black or body color.
Not so modest was the 2.7 inch wider rear track and a 2-inch broadening of the rear flanks to accommodate the 255/40/ZR17 inch tires on the "new GTS" 17-inch Alloy wheels. The wheels on this example were professionally refinished (w/receipts of course).
4-Wheel disc brakes were standard; however Porsche specified the hulking 12.7 inch rotors from the Porsche 911 Turbo up front. The rear rotors were sized at 11.77 inches and 4-piston calipers made for world-class stopping power. The brake system is in perfect operating condition.
The GTS opened in the US market for a sticker price of nearly $81,000 in 1992. A very rare car in the United States, calendar sales were only 121 units in 1993.
The posh "Platinum color" factory interior is original and well maintained. Have a seat and ride with us below
The leather seats show minor wear, but are intact.
The dash displays all original, functional gauges throughout. The factory Blaupunkt radio is the only thing not working in this car.
The engine compartment is clean and detailed, not suffering from problems as many do thanks to the loving owner's attention to continuous maintenance by qualified Porsche technicians. The GTS engine was 5.4 liters thanks to a longer stroke crankshaft and additional revisions. A little known fact for 1993 is the change of the piston skirts and piston rings to further limit oil consumption and further enhance reliability. Compression was 10.4:1.
The chassis and underbody is indicative of this car's always garaged, dry climate status.
Close inspection of the paint and body will confirm original body panels throughout. There is minor wear, such as an area of clear coat fade near the driver's side tail light, also a few very minor scuffs photographed below. The factory black clear coat paint still shows beautifully on the car.
Although this example has never been raced or abused, Zuffenhausen quoted the GTS to obtain a top speed of 171 mph. Car and Driver quoted the "new" GTS Posche as one of the world's finest Gran Turismo's.
A truly remarkable automobile and trailblazer for liquid-cooled front engine/rear wheel drive Porsche's, the 928 model was in production for 18 years. The short 3-year run of the GTS was the pinnacle of the 928 model line and is an appreciating, exillirating value to this day. Again, we hope you enjoyed our presentation.
